Seats open for election:  Mayor, Council Seat #2, Council Seat #4

City Elections are held every other year and are included with the Humboldt County and Federal elections.  City candidates are not listed on the primary election ballot held on June 8, 2010.  Candidates for Mayor and City Council will be placed on the November 2, 2010 General Election ballot.  Mayoral and City Council seats are filed as non-partisan. 

( ELECTIONS governed by Winnemucca Muncipal Code (WMC) Title 2, Chapter 2.44 )

Those City Council Seats that are up for re-election this year are Mayor, City Council Seat 2, and City Council Seat 4.  Those individuals that filed for candidacy are:

  • Di An Putnam, Mayor (Incumbent)
  • Doug Cain, Councilman Seat #2 (Incumbent)
  • Jim Billingsley, Councilman Seat #4 (Incumbent)
  • Carrie Stringham, Councilman Seat #4

According to electoral statutes, because the elected seats for Mayor and Councilman Seat #2 are currently held by incumbents who are "unopposed" in this election,  these seats will not appear on the November 2nd ballot, but will be delared as "elected" after the close of the November election. 

Listed as candidates on the November ballot for Councilman Seat #4 will be Jim Billingsley (Incumbent) and his challenger, Carrie Stringham.

To be able to vote in the 2010 General election, your voter registration forms must be received by the following dates:

  • By Mail to the County Clerk - October 2, 2010
  • In Person at County Clerk/Registrar Office - October 3-11, 2010
  • Voter registration is closed on October 12, 2010

When can you vote?

  • Early voting begins on October 16, 2010
  • Mail-in ballot request deadline (must be received) - October 26, 2010
  • Last day of Early voting for General Election - October 29, 2010
  • General Election voting day - November 2, 2010
