Since 1917, the Winnemucca Police Department has aimed to improve the quality of life for all citizens of Winnemucca by administrating programs which prevent, investigate, solve and ultimately decrease crime.  While reducing crime benefits everyone in the community, the Winnemucca Police Department's aim is to maintain a high quality of life for those calling Winnemucca their home.  The Winnemucca Police Department strives to achieve its mission through a dedication to open, honest communication, professionalism, community education, creative problem solving and recognition of the community's needs.  The men and women of the Winnemucca Police Department take pride in the service provided to the residents and visitors to our city.  The Officers and Staff of the Winnemucca Police Department are dedicated to providing the highest quality public safety and law enforcement services to people who live, work and play in the City of Winnemucca.

 

 

Chief of Police Thomas "Eric" Silva started with the Winnemucca Police Department on December 2, 1996.  Silva was promoted to the postion of Police Lieutenant on July 1, 2011, followed by his appointment as Chief of Police on September 5, 2011.

 

Winnemucca Police Department Captain William "Bill" D. Dalley was appointed to the department on September 5, 2011.  Captain Dalley came to the Winnemucca Police Department from the Humboldt County Sheriff's department.
